Auburn is a rapidly growing community in terms of new residents and business development. Of significant importance is the new commuter rail station being built in our central business district, due to open in the fall of 2000. Auburn also leads the region in job creation. According to King County employment figures, the number of jobs increased in Auburn by more than 27 percent between 1990 and 1997, from 26,405 to nearly 34,000. The population has increased from 34,600 to over 38,000 in less than six years. During the same time, over 500 new businesses have opened their doors here. |
