Region 7 abounds in natural beauty.
The Gateway to the Rockies, Region 7 boasts Ponderosa forests,
crisp clean air and undiluted scenery.
In the Colville National Forest, caribou,
moose, wolf, and grizzly bear make their homes Glaciers scoured
these waterways that feed the mighty Columbia River system.
Within the millions of acres of the forest, three waves
of mountains run from north to south. These are considered
foothills
of the Rocky Mountains. Downhill and cross-country skiing
plus more than 300 miles of signed snowmobile trails offer
endless recreation in winter. Summer allows easy access
to hiking and riding trails that sprawl for hundreds
of miles.
Sherman Pass National Forest Scenic Byway on Highway 20
also opens in warmer months and is one of the most beautiful
drives
in the state.
